Description
The Abduction of Psyche Cross Stitch Pattern is a replica of the famous 1895 painting L’enlèvement de Psyché by William-Adolphe Bouguereau. This is a simply fantastic project, but be warned, it’s one of the hardest projects in our collection. Are you up for the challenge?
The Project
This stunning project is a full coverage cross stitch and measures 58.1cm x 104.1cm (320 x 574 grid area) when stitched on 14-count Aida cloth. You’ll need 134 different DMC colours and be completing 183,680 cross stitches.
The finished piece is incredibly beautiful as there is so much depth and detail BUT there is a huge amount of confetti using very similar thread tones. If still you’re keen to tackle this whopper we do think you’ll enjoy stitching the rapturous lovers in the DMC violet tones (grape, lavender, antique violet, antique mauve, fuchsia, eggplant).
PLEASE NOTE: We recommend using the Pattern Keeper App to manage this complex project, look for the extra PK chart in your download pack. Our charts work perfectly with Pattern Keeper.
The Artist
William-Adolphe Bouguereau was a French painter who lived between 1825 – 1905. He completed more than 800 paintings during his career and at the height of his popularity, was celebrated for his realistic (yet very romantic) interpretations of Greek Mythology and classical scenes.
