And We Are Opening the Gates cross stitch was inspired by an oil painting by Russian artist, philosopher, and peace activist Nicholas Roerich. The painting is part 1 of the Sancta Series — 6 paintings symbolising a spiritual journey.
A Christian monk opens the gates to the monastery in the early morning, the valley below and rising sun beam through the wide arches. Overhead Mother Mary and the Christ Child open their arms in welcome.
It’s a design that’s is incredibly beautiful, yet subtle in its message — symbolising acceptance, flow, quiet, and the beauty of the new day. Fantastic energy for your home or office.
