Costume for Salome Cross Stitch Pattern

$5.99 USD

Cross Stitch Theatre

If you’re looking for something bold and unusual for your favourite wallspace, how about cross stitching this vintage costume design?

Originally designed for Oscar Wilde’s famed one-act tragedy Salomé, we adore the artist’s unusual violet and pink colour palette and strong geometric shapes.

Description

Costume for Salome Cross Stitch was inspired by a vintage costume design concept (1917) by Russian artist Alexandra Exter. The bold lines and gorgeous lavender palette make it perfect for cross stitch.

The Project

Costume for Salome cross stitch is a large, full coverage project measuring 45.4cm x 61.1cm when stited on 14 count Aida cloth. If you want to reduce your stitching time you could easily remove the raspberry and carnation tones from the background. Consider a dark pink or red Aida cloth to keep the original feel of the piece.

PLEASE NOTE: your download pack contains an extra chart that has been specially formatted for Pattern Keeper App. We recommend using PK to manage your cross stitch projects.

The Artist

Alexandra Exter (born Aleksandra Ekster) was an avante-garde painter, costume and set designer who worked between Paris, Rome and Moscow. She was a contemporary of Picasso and Marcel Duchamp. We love Exter’s paintings from the theatre (especially her costume concepts), look for them in cross stitch here in the store.
