Egrets and Crescent Moon Cross Stitch

$9.63 USD

How about stitching these gentle white egrets, wading the water’s edge on a windy moonlit night?

Description

Our Egrets and Crescent Moon Cross Stitch Pattern was inspired by a set of woodblock prints, created in Japan in the 1920s.

This is such a beautiful cross stitch and so much fun to do. Starting at the top you’ll begin with dark navy and wedgewood, working your way through the teal shades and light turquoise. Each wind-filled reed is carefully shadowed in antique blues and pewter.

The Artwork

This cross stitch pattern is a replica of Ohara Koson’s 1926 colour woodblock Egrets and Crescent Moon. Prints from the series are now in many famous galleries and museums around the world.

The Artist

Japanese Shin-hanga artist Ohara Koson lived from 1877-1945 and painted an incredible collection of bird and nature paintings. We are excited to transform some of our favourite Koson paintings into counted cross stitch patterns.
