Description
This cross stitch pattern recreates the Kanak Flag of New Caledonia. Though not the official country flag, it is often seen flying adjacent to the French Tricolour.
The Kanak flag is deep with symbolism. The blue represents the ocean surrounding each of the islands, the red symbolises the blood of the Kanak people, and the green embodies the land and the ancestors.
What is really striking about this flag is the yellow sun containing the silhouette of a flèche faitière — a type of arrow that adorns many Kanak Houses.
The Project
Our cross stitch project brings to life the Kanak Flag in two different sizes. Apart from the full flag and mini version, we’ve also added some lettering and stripes if you want to vary the design.

We’re charting the flags of the world into counted cross stitch patterns and already have a few in teh store. Check them out.
