Description
Koala in the Wild cross stitch pattern was inspired by a Faunaverse photograph of a koala — taken in the tangled eucalypt forests of Australia.
Koalas are one of Australia’s most beloved animals but sadly, vulnerable to extinction due to forest clearing and land development, wildfires, drought, and disease.
Your purchase of this chart helps the Faunaverse team continue their important field research and wildlife survey work — as well as running wildlife awareness programs in schools and community libraries.
The Project
Our awesome cross stitch creates a realistic Koala sitting in a native eucalypt. Using 32 DMC thread tones, you’ll capture the full texture and colour of the koala’s fluffy ears and gorgeous face.
We’ve removed the background for you, and suggest using sky blue Aida cloth. This also mimics a bright sun shining day — we absolutely love how the light tones on the tips of the koala’s ears and shoulder (plus the tree trunk) capture the full afternoon sun. Fantastic.
The Artists
Faunaverse Wildlife is series of books created by field zoologist Alex Dudley and his wife Jane. Together Alex and Jane explore Australia’s wild places — photographing vulnerable species, writing cool poems, and educating the wider community on wildlife conservation and better landcare practices.
Alex is also a working zoologist and fauna survey consultant to Australian government departments, while Jane is a musician and writer. Check out more Faunaverse charts exclusive to Cross Stitch Patterns Online.
