Description
Madonna and Child cross stitch pattern is a replica of a Baroque masterpiece by Italian painter Sassoferrato. We think you’ll love the way our beautiful project captures the texture and glow of Mary’s robes and radiant nimbus in fine detail.
The Project
This is a full coverage project that measures 36.3cm x 43.5cm (200 x 280 grid size) when stitched on 14 count Aida cloth. You’ll need 103 different DMC colours and we think you’ll especially enjoy the warm chocolate background interspersed with mocha and old gold, as well as Mary’s shining robes in Royal Blue and Coral.
We’ve rated this project Challenging and have included an extra chart in your download pack that has been specially formatted for Pattern Keeper. PK definitely makes managing full coverage cross stitch so much easier.
The Artist
Giovanni Battista Salvi was an Italian painter, affectionately known as Sassoferrato for the small town where he was born. Sassoferrato lived between 1609 – 1685 and was a devotee of the High Renaissance painter Raphael. He painted many Christian artworks featuring the Holy Madonna and baby Jesus including several murals and wall paintings. If you find his work inspiring and beautiful, check the store because we’ve charted more than a few of his paintings into detailed cross stitch patterns.
