Description

Star Medallion cross stitch was inspired by traditional Quaker embroidery and many variations of this design can be found on antique samplers. It’s a quick project and lots of fun to stitch.

Ann Grimshaw Sampler

If you’re interested in the history of embroidery you can check out a variation of this geometric design on an actual vintage sampler (dated 1818) @ Philadelphia Museum of Art.

This star medallion was very popular choice on Ackworth School embroidery projects and we’ve seen other variations of the medallion dating as early as 1799.
