Art Nouveau Cross Stitch

Looking for an easy cross stitch that’s stylish and unique? How about these striking antelope, recreated from an Art Nouvea vingette?

Description

Two Antelope cross stitch pattern was inspired by an 1892 woodcut by Dutch artist Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof.

It’s a quick and easy project that produces an interesting, minimalist art piece. We’ve replicated the original green background in the project simulations, but you could actually use any coloured Aida that matches your decor.

The Artist

Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof was a Dutch illustrator, painter and designer who lived between 1866 and 1924. We have transcribed a number of his minimalist woodcuts and floral sprays into counted cross stitch patterns — look for them here in the store.
