Description
Van Gogh Irises cross stitch pattern is a full-sized replica of the gorgeous flowers he painted during the last year of his life, while interred at the asylum at Saint-Rémy. The violet-blue flowers that filled the asylum gardens — as well as the surrounding meadows and roadside ditches — were a source of delight and solace for Van Gogh, and he often spoke of them in letters to his brother Theo.
The Project
This project is a very large, full coverage cross stitch that measures 93.4cm x 71.7cm when stitched on 14 count Aida cloth — the same size as the actual painting. The project requires 249 different DMC colours and you’ll be completing a whopping 203,425 stitches.
We took great care to ensure this cross stitch recreates his brilliant blue/violet irises, very yellow buttercups, and jade green foliage as well as the brushstrokes and textures of the original painting. We even managed his insignia ‘Vincent‘ in the bottom left corner.
Due to the size and complexity of this project, we recommend using Pattern Keeper to manage y our project. Look in your download pack for the extra chart we have specially formatted for the Pattern Keeper App.
The Artist
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-impressionist painter who might just be the world’s most famous artist. His work is defined by his bright colours and thick, expressive brush strokes. We are so excited about charting our favourite Vincent Van Gogh paintings in cross stitch patterns. Keep calling back to the store as we add more and more.
