Primary Colour Cross Stitch

Looking for a bold cross stitch that really makes a statement?

How about stitching this fauvist scene in bright DMC Red, Coral, Navy Blue, and Straw?

Description

Woman on Balcony cross stitch pattern was inspired by a 1914 Les Fauves painting by Italian artist Alberto Magnelli. We just adore the bold primary colours in this painting — they look amazing in cross stitch.

The Project

This is a large, full coverage cross stitch that measures 54.4 x 72.8cm when stitched on 14 Count Aida cloth. Despite the large size, the stitching is relatively straight forward as there are large single colour blocks and no confetti.

The Artist

Alberto Magnelli was a self-taught Italian painter who lived between 1888 and 1971. His paintings crossed many genres and art movements including Fauvism, Cubism, Abstract, and Concrete Art.

We just love the bold colours of his early paintings and have transformed several of them into cross stitch projects. Check them out here in the store.
