Opening the .ZIP file

All our digital cross stitch patterns are compressed into a .ZIP file. Zipped files take up less storage space on our server and your devices, plus they download much faster.

Finding your pattern in the .ZIP file

This short video will walk you through the download and unzip process. You can also see a quick preview of one of our premium patterns as well as the Pattern Keeper chart.

Instructions for various devices

Unzipping the file is easy, and in most cases it’s simply a matter of double-clicking the .zip file, then opening the new folder. If you are having problems though, we have detailed instructions for a range of electronic devices.

Android

Files by Google allows you to extract and view contents of compressed files on Android devices:

  1. On your Android device, open Files by Google Files Go.
  2. On the bottom, tap BrowseBrowse.
  3. Navigate to the folder that contains a .zip file you want to unzip.
  4. Select the .zip file.
  5. A pop up appears showing the content of that file.
  6. Tap Extract.
  7. You’re shown a preview of the extracted files. If you want to delete the .zip file after extraction, select the “Delete ZIP file” checkbox.
  8. Tap Done.
  9. The extracted files are saved in the same folders as the original .zip file.

PC (Windows)

Locate the zipped folder that you want to unzip (extract) files or folders from.

Do one of the following:

  • To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location.
  • To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Notes:

  • To add files or folders to a zipped folder you created earlier, drag them to the zipped folder.
  • If you add encrypted files to a zipped folder, they’ll be unencrypted when they’re unzipped, which might result in unintentional disclosure of personal or sensitive information. For that reason, we recommend that you avoid zipping encrypted files.
  • Some types of files, like JPEG images, are already highly compressed. If you zip several JPEG pictures into a folder, the total size of the folder will be about the same as the original collection of pictures.
