reCAPTCHA Forms

We’ve recently installed reCAPTCHA forms on our website to prevent fraudulent activity and protect our customers and site visitors.

Everytime you make a purchase, login to your account, change your password, or comment on a blog post, you will be asked to complete a simple test on-screen.

Just click the ‘I’m not a robot‘ box and follow the prompts on your screen (see image below).

What is reCAPTCHA?

reCAPTCHA is a free service from Google that helps protect websites from spam and abuse. A “CAPTCHA” is a test that can tell the different between human and bots. It is easy for humans to solve the test, but very difficult for “bots” and other malicious software.

You’ll find a reCAPTCHA form like this when purchasing patterns on our site, logging into your account, and commenting on blog posts.

How does reCAPTCHA work?

reCAPTCHA uses an advanced risk analysis engine and adaptive challenges to keep malicious software from engaging in abusive activities on our website.

Examples of abusive activities can include:

  • Fraudulent Transactions — purchasing of products or gift cards with stolen credit cards.
  • Card Testing — using the online store to test stolen credit cards.
  • Synthetic Accounts — creating new accounts for promotional value or future misuse.
  • False Posts — posting of malicious links or misinformation propagation.

The reCAPTCHA forms block fake users, while legitimate customers are still be able to login, make purchases, view pages, create accounts, and use our site as normal.

ReCAPTCHA love

At first glance a reCAPTCHA form might seem a little annoying, but reCAPTCHA has been at the forefront of bot mitigation for over a decade and actively protects data for more than five million websotes all over the world — including ours.
